I think I will become New Age in my Old Age

Recommended Posts

My wife has been suggesting that we buy some essential oils. Some of these oils are therapeutic grade and used for medicinal purpose. Aromatherapy, or essential oils, form the base of many household favorites. For example, tea tree oil supply the medicinal taste in old-style Listerine. Vicks Vapor Rub contains rosemary. Essential oils have many therapeutic uses, although one of the most important uses is in treating or preventing infection. So I thought that is a manly thing to do since I saw someone on Doomsday Peppers using it. So I ordered some books on the subject and they should arrive on Monday. That way I can figure out which oils I should order.

I am going to turn 67 this month, so I am not a spring chicken. So I called my daughter and told her that I am turning New Age in my Old Age. When you come to visit I can mix up some oils for you take home when the grandkids get sick. I could visualize her rolling her eyes. She said "Sure Dad"!

This is probably what happens when you do not get enough sleep. You talk about becoming New Age in your Old Age. Maybe I should grow long hair and wear a set of Hippy beads around my neck. The last couple nights I have been getting up at 2 A.M and working until 8 A.M. It turns out that I am almost out of bandwidth for this month. I am allowed 10 gigabytes per month and I ran out. But my internet provider also gives me bonus free internet bandwidth, but you guessed it. It is only available between 2 A.M and 8 A.M.

I love essential oils and have been using them for years. Recently I have branched out and purchased a diffuser for my home and now I am diffusing them.

Everyone who comes in my house comments on how wonderful and uplifting it smells. At night I diffuse lavender and it helps with relaxation and sleep.< /p>

Tea tree oil has wonderful anti fungal and antibiotic properties.

Hope you enjoy your new hobby- it's a fun one!

Hey, we laugh and joke but honestly, so many of our physical and emotional problems can be soothed with things that came from the Earth. Animals know what to eat when they are sick, what specific rivers or lakes to swim in with specific minerals that help them heal, etc. Vaccines and MANY man-made medicines are just amazing and so important for the betterment and advancement of humanity and our lifespan but it's silly to think that all-natural ingredients found in plants and minerals are useless. There's a healthy balance to be had, that will lead to a healthy, balanced life. Have fun learning! :D

I use essential oils all the time and a diffuser. When I get home from a crappy day at work answering 911 calls, talking to people who can't get along etc... my diffuser is kind of nice to help me relax. (I do use them at work too.) I figure it can't hurt. Hope you enjoy them!

I think in our retirement we should all return to a hippie lifestyle. :)

That's my plan. :)

My daughter who has always gone the "natural" route, introduced me to Arnica Gel to treat arthritis pain and achy old people maladies. I have not used BenGay or any of ts smelly equivalents for years. She is sort of New Age turns Old Hippie. She is my Earth Mother / Flower Child, and usually brings me something fragrant when she comes over. One time she brought me some cucumber / mint rub for my feet.....I lovvvvved it!

Person who is allergic to essential oil and diffuser here!

Just don't be surprised if some people avoid coming I to your space if it bothers them. I had a boss who used this on his office and every time I went in there I wound up with itchy, burning eyes. It is somewhat easier to take in larger spaces, I also have a reaction when people use this in bathrooms.

Rock on!

I love the smell of essential oils, but my skin can't handle it without blistering. Enjoy, I envy you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
