So I went to my surgeon and come to find out I can have a meal. Five days before surgery though I have to be on a liquid diet

Each surgeon is different. The main reason of the liquid diet is to reduce the size of your liver. During my 2 week liquid pre-op diet I would eat a regular "healthy" meal every 3-4 days, and had my last supper 3 days prior to surgery.
