Congrats! it great to see you're doing well. I hope it will be the same for me. I do not have any med. issues but I understand how you feel. My dad is diabetic and is considering this too.

I don't know where to look for before and after pictures. I don't know how to find out if anyone has replied to my post. I guess I'm not that savvy on this website. can someone help me to navigate this. I am looking for pictures showing how scars look after surgery.

thanks

Hi, Tammy, I bet if you go to the introductions section and start a new thread about yourself and your ??, you'll get more responses. Jack's right about the scars, nothing to brag about. Best of luck to you on your banding!

I had a 2.5 fill at surgery with a 4cc band. I am 2 weeks post op and am starting to get hungry these past couple of days. Eating Soup and cheated a little but I still could eat. I don't get this feeling like OMG i have to stop or else? Does anyone know what that's about?

I really want to/ need to avoid having to have so many fills.

I want ONE fill.. maybe two..

I am at 11 days and I can drink milk, juice and tomatoe soup... easliy more than a cup.. about three times a day.

I also ate some cheese and bites of salad and nothing bad happend.

The doc told me my band was tighter than usual becasue I was held in the hospital for two days longer than all the other ladies because I couldnt even keep down ice chips.

BUT.. I dont PB or nothing.

so...........................

I wonder.... when I go for my fill, can I ask the doctor to be sure its real tight? I have to go to Mexico and I am on SSI and dont have the money to keep going, nor do I wanna mess around.. just tighten it up NOW!!

Like I dont care how restricted I am, for days I had to sleep with a towel and spit up my saliva all night long.. I didnt care.... now that I can eat this tomaote Soup and stuff so early.. I am not happy.

I read through this thread and found out its kinda normal.

I rather it be too tight and suffer..

Nykee, would you mind going to the introductions and posting a new thread? You will get a lot more responses to your questions. Also, please do a "search" and read several old posts about the serious effects of being too tight. Just a few things are gastric reflux, band slippage, band erosion. There is a lot to learn about this band...before you get it and afterwards. I learn new things every day. Best of luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
