Is this normal?3 weeks out from surgery and main incision still hurts

Recommended Posts

I had laparoscopic surgery on August 18th and after a week or so my pain had become barely noticeable until a couple days ago when I went to get up from my set. I felt a burning pinch in my largest incision and now it happens anytime I go to sit, stand, lay down or bend over. The pain isn't on the outside though it's under the skin. Should I be worried?

Totally normal. I'm 2 months out and if I overdo it that incision lets me know it!

As long as it appears to be healing without infection it should be ok but I would probably call tomorrow just to be sure, that's just me though ?

Probably nothing. But I agree, I'd call the doctor.

Right on. I just left a message with his office. Thanks.

Normal. In fact, a couple of my incision sites from my lap gall bladder removal did that for *years*. I had one right at "table edge" level, and if it got pushed at too much from sitting at a school desk, it would get sore/angry. Not on the surface, but the scar beneath in the muscle level.

The EXACT same thing happened to me, and every time I went to a follow-up with my surgeon (and in emails and phone calls in between), I told him how I was still in pain near my main incision and it was worrying me and everything, and every time, he told me I was fine and not to worry. The first time had happened a day or so after going seaglassing (basically tons of bending over and climbing on large rocks), and I would have swore up and down I tore open my sleeve or an incision or something, but eventually (after many, many weeks of taking it fairly easy), I felt better. Now I exercise almost every day without a problem (I'm 3.5 months out) and can handle most physical activity without that pain.

Years? I hope not. I'd like to be able to lift weights or do sit ups without severe pain. LoL

I guess I'll just have to be patient then. LoL Thanks for the info.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
