Hello All,

I had RNY July 2014. By February of 2015, I had lost 70 pounds. Since February, I have only lost 26 pounds, and in the last 7 weeks, I haven't lost anything.

According to my surgeon, I should lose another 30 pounds by the end of the year, but with the way I have completely stalled out, I don't see that happening (I saw him at the end of August, and between April and August (my last follow up with him) I had only lost 6 pounds).

What can I do to break through this plateau? Anyone ever have this happen to them?

I appreciate any words of wisdom you can offer!

Thanks!

I am almost 10 months post op. Hw 289 Cw175. I just started a liquid diet for a few days to jump start again. I lost 3 pounds the first day. I want so badly to be in the 150's for my one year appt. I've heard the 5 day pouch test and the 5:2 diet are great for jump starting weight loss again. Keep me posted!

They always say the first six months is your window of opportunity but trust me we quickly loose it's going to come off and you guys will be happy I was in your shoes before and I used to get so so frustrated with myself but trust me now just remain positive and know that no matter what you're going to meet that goal as long as you exercise eat properly ;)

I'm coming up to a year post-op and I'm up one, down one and maintain for a week to two weeks and then down one. What's scary is I see my food intake creeping up at times. The old habits are still with me and that keeps me vigilant but afraid of what could happen. Does anyone else feel any of this. Eating out is difficult because I still have a tendency to overeat. I have been really lucky (or not so lucky) depending on how you look at it. No dumping just feel sick when I overeat. I sweat and feel a bit faint so I have to be really careful. Sugar does make me feel ill when taking in too much. So I can only tolerate wee bits (thank god). I guess I should be thankful that it keeps me mindful. I have to remember that this surgery was only a tool and I could gain it back.

So, anyone out there relate?

Ruth

Practice what you learned from pre op training, and review it all. Stalling can occur by introducing too much from the before life than managing the post op WLS life now. Usually since healing phase is pretty much done, solid foods are more the list of things we eat with flavored liquids and familiar solid foods, "sliding foods" and portion sizes still need measuring. Vitamins daily, Water daily, exercising and foods more from the Bariatric food list should help break your stall. If you need flavor to your water, what I do, add a few teaspoon of lime or lemon juice... you can add some zero calorie sweetener but I skip the sweeteners.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
