confusedgirl18 6 Posted September 10, 2015 I'm 1 month and a week post op and I've started eating soft foods such as rice and Pasta ect. But I feel like I'm consuming too many carbs? I'm not sure but I know it's because it's the only thing that I can stomach right now and can put down easily; I'm scared I'm going to stop loosing weight though...I've lost 20 lbs in 3 weeks but I haven't lost anything ever since then and I'm scared I'm not going to...idk what to do? I think I need to start working out more but is this just a stall? Or am I eating too many carbs/food in general???
Ilovecats1985 100 Posted September 10, 2015 I was told to stay away from rice, Pasta, anything like that. I am still pre-op but my surgeon told me those foods or anything carb heavy is off limits.
Ilovecats1985 100 Posted September 10, 2015 I was actually at my monthly support group last night and everyone post op was saying those things kill them if they eat it. One lady was 4 years post op and still couldn't tolerate rice, bread, tortillas, and Pasta
CanyonBaby 1,852 Posted September 10, 2015 Protein-rich foods are what you should be aiming for, such as scrambled eggs, Beans, hamburger or other ground meats. My carb limit was about 20g...for the day. Check with your NUT about it, they should give you really good guidelines. Good luck to you!
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted September 10, 2015 Please talk to your NUT. The last thing you need to be eating is rice and Pasta. Since you are on soft foods try: cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, tuna, soft fish, refried Beans, etc. if you must have carbs stick with complex carbs like oatmeal or soft-cooked vegetables. Try soft-scrambled eggs (although some people have trouble with eggs early out). Did your NUT provide you a list of appropriate foods? Why not give your NUT a call? Whitney1968 54 Posted September 10, 2015 I heard no more than 100 carbs a day
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted September 10, 2015 I heard no more than 100 carbs a day Only if you are getting in all your Protein. The focus early out is getting in all your protein. Incidental carbs will occur.
jennolsen 140 Posted September 11, 2015 Is that what your surgeons plan recommends? My plan has nothing but Protein for 6 weeks then until six months only carbs are fruits and veggies. Sounds way too soon. Slippery slope...
