brandnewme15 2 Posted September 10, 2015 I've been banded 5 years. Got to goal, got too tight, then had band emptied. I am slowly refilling it. It does good until it hits 6 cc's. At that point fills are hell. I had a fill Tuesday that brought me to 6.4 cc's. As I expected, my band is pretty irritated. This always happens for me. Post fill it can take 8 to 10 days before I can eat solid foods again. It's not that there is too much Fluid in the band, it's just that my band/stomach swells up from the actual fill. Does this happen to any of you?
Hope41 13 Posted September 10, 2015 One question I would ask who ever is doing your fills is why are they doing such a big fills? If you done some research you would find that after 4.0cc the biggest fills they should be doing is 0.2cc Reason why people are having issues is getting overfilled. I'm on 7.6ccs in a 10cc band and never had any issues, my largest fill was 0.4cc the very first fill. After that was 0.2cc all the time
brandnewme15 2 Posted September 10, 2015 Once I hit 6 even 1/10th of a CC causes the same issue:( This time they went with 1 full cc because they want to find my green zone pretty quickly.

I've had much larger fills than .2cc's, even after getting past 4.0cc's, without any issues. But my surgeon does use fluoroscopy for all band adjustments now. It didn't used to be that way, years ago. Then it was just the blind fill...guessing method. To the OP, its wasn't uncommon for me to experience some added restriction a couple of weeks post fill. I kind of liked it....it made me re-think my food choices for a few days.
brandnewme15 2 Posted September 13, 2015 I didn't get much down yesterday or today. Barely any liquids. I just left the ER. They took out the whole 1 cc I had put in Tuesday. I feel so much better! I drank 16 oz of Water within 10 minutes of the unfill. I was so thirsty!
ebonymc 52 Posted September 13, 2015 before removing my band, even 1cc was too tight. It was decided to take out 5cc's and I felt soooo much relief. No acid reflux, night cough or slimming. It was useless and there was no need to have it in my body.
