Hi all,

I wanted to ask if anyone ever felt like they have not had an appetite? I've been feeling this way for the past couple of days, and wanted to know if this is normal.

Thanks.

I'm almost 6 weeks post op, and don't have the urge to eat. I'm getting a little hungry but it goes away quickly.

I don't get hungry the way I used to, and I don't have much of an appetite. Some things that I used to eat don't set well with me anymore. Of course, they usually are processed Snacks. I do really well with fresh fruit and veggies, tho.

Almost 5 months post op, no appetite, never hungry. In fact yesterday I ate Breakfast at 6am, intended to buy lunch but forgot my wallet at home. Didn't eat again till 6pm... Wasn't the least bit hungry and could have gone the night without eating. I ate to ensure to I got my Protein in.

I'm starting week 9. I'm not hungry. I am getting low blood sugar nausea. I eat when I have to, but I'm not getting in my Protein :/ meat doesn't smell good, doesn't taste good, and doesn't sound good. Today for the first time I ate an Egg, cheese, and Bacon sandwich (1/4th). It tasted good because of the variety of flavors and textures but it's been 14 hours and I haven't eaten since... but I'm getting my Water in. I'm also eating a lot of popsicles to help with dry mouth. I've only vomited once but am terrified of vomiting again... Still, I know I need to eat.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
