It's that time again!

Time to set a goal for the month. I managed to pretty make my goal for June and so now I am thinking I need a new one for July so here I go

I am going to try to make it to 210 lbs this month. Today is my weigh day. I think I should be needing to lose about 9 lbs to make it.

My goal for the summer is to make it to Wonderland. I have not been there since before I got pregnant with my now almost 19 year old son!!

So to all those who post a goal .... Right on!! Lets make it happen!:whoo:

Alright, I made my June goal by the excess skin of my teeth so I will go with this one too.

My goal is to be below 260 at the end of the month which will put me at 100lbs lost, and if I get to 258 I will officially be obese:confused:, down from a BMI of 49 which is almost Super Obese:embarassed:.

DW & I are going to Vegas in August because we both need new wardrobes so I am going to try & drop as much weight as I can so I dont shrink out of those clothes so fast.

Miss Leslielee you are doing fantastic in such a short time.

Gaffman you are kicking some mighty as.... I'll bet you can hardly see that now but something else is probably getting bigger.

Be proud of yourselves because I am learning that the band is just a tool and it requires great effort on our part to stick with it.

Remember this will be our last fat summer. Yahoo!!!

Hi Donna!!

Thank you for your encouragenent! It means so much! I am really enjoying life this summer. Lots of yard work which is getting easier to do as the weight comes off. I love my morning walks with my best girl Shilo. She is so eager to get going in the morning...lol she does some dancing if I take too long to get ready. I also walk with friends tuesday and thursday evenings and then on saturday I walk in our river valley. It is great! I love walking! I think it is one more thing that is making this work. Finding the right exercise is a good thing. I am glad I did the 60K Breast Cancer walk last year, -=smiles a big smile=- I found out just how good it feels for me!

As you said this is my last overweight summer! I am going to be kayaking soon!!

psssst where is your goal for July...-=winks=-

Thank you Miranda!

It is so nice to know that you have read my little ramblings and that they may have helped you in some way.

This band is a truly wonderful thing! I love what is happening to me. I have lost weight many times in my life but now I feel for the first time that I really will do it and I will keep it off. I have gotten so much from the posts here over the months that I have been reading. It is so inspiring to read about people just like me and see how they cope and share in their good days and not so good days. To look at so many before and after photos and see how happy the people are. I have also been fortunate to meet some of the bandsters or to talk on the phone to a few. It means so much to me to actually be able to do this. There is nothing better than going out to lunch or having Breakfast with another bander! -=smiles=- even just sitting and talking makes it all so real and powerful!

I feel very blessed.

I know you will be successful Miranda the band is with you!!

lol now how about a July goal??? hmmmmm -=winks=-

Ohhh gosh I dont know if I am ready to commit to a goal weight!!!! lol.

Im scared!

So tell me....why is this what has worked for you? I am sure you have tried lots of fad diets and things throughout the years. What has this band done to make you feel so great? I am thinking you are not not full restriction. I have not had a fill yet so I kinda feel like nothing really happened and that any day now my old ways will creap up and I will allow it. Actually I soo already hit that time 2 weeks ago and started eating everything in site. I had to stop that and put myself back on pre op diet..with a few healthy extras.

I also hit the gym now everyday...I feel pretty good about that too.

I have just dropped to 77.5kg this morning, after probably five months at 78 to 79 kg. I mean to MAINTAIN this loss now, not let it bounce back to 78. And if possible, I want to be in the 76's by the end of July. Not really an easy task when you're at a healthy weight already and your body seems to not want to lose anymore, but that CAN be controlled by my behaviour.

Miranda you don't have to make your goal a weight loss goal. It can be anything you want...lol like cleaning out your closet, or going to the gym how ever many times a week. Something you would really like to get done or maybe even starting belly dancing or yoga... not eating something like chocolate or ???? It can be anything you want sweet thang!! going to bed by a certain time each night.... turning off the TV for an hour and excercising... and on and on and on...lol want me to keep going? -=winks=-

As for what makes me feel so great..... knowing deep in my heart that this is going to work! My band and I are going to be very good friends!!

Yes, Andrew, you are doing fantastic!

How are you feeling day to day? Your motivation must be still so high after seeing such results, but I'm just wondering how your energy level is. Thx.

Since my Surgery date is July 27th, my July goal is to get through the surgery and back home healthy and happy ... This also includes making it through the 2 weeks of Optifast (not such wonderful stuff, but a necessary evil for a successful surgery).

Everyone is doing so fantastic! You are all an inspiration!

Andrew - can't wait for the playgirl issue to hit the stands. You'll be in the same issue as Brad Pitt, right?

My energy level is great. Before I lost the weight I was a pretty busy guy, and now that I am that much lighter it is even better. I am able to work out 50 minutes of intense cardio 4-5 days a week and still have the energy to do all sorts of stuff in the evening when I get home from work. At 360lbs I was having to sleep 10 hours per night to feel rested, now I can usually run off 7-8. It is amazing, I feel 10 years younger. My wife even said to me the other day that in the past I would be exhausted at 8:00 at night, but I was still running around the house doing stuff right unitl bed time.

That will be the one. As soon as Brad heard that I was doing it he was like "Well I better get in on that action too" :heh:

How are things going since I saw you & Leslie?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
