arimerm1 20 Posted September 10, 2015 I'm wondering why nothing they told me at NYU has been true so far, except for having difficulty eating doughy food and dry food. 1. You can't eat and drink at the same time. I generally don't, but if something gets stuck there's basically no remedy. 2. You can't eat any more than 1000 calories. I've been eating closer to 2000. 3. I should tolerate any more than 1/2 cup of food. I've been able to eat at least 2 cups of food per meal. Now, I'm not complaining. I lose 10 pounds this month, but I'm not sure what to believe anymore. I also hate not being able to eat. 2 days after the adjustment is liquid only, and since I can't stomach the Protein shakes, it becomes a literal fast. I haven't had anything but coffee for 2 days. hmj2015 13 Posted September 10, 2015 How long have you had the band? Maybe you need another adjustment in order to fill more full?
pink dahlia 2,513 Posted September 10, 2015 1. I was told not to eat and drink at the same time because the liquids wash down the food and you dont feel full. 2. 2000 calories does seem like alot, but maybe check and see why your Dr .recommends 1000 calories ? 3. Same with 2 cups of food, talk to your Dr. 4. Who says only Protein Shakes after a fill ? Liquids can mean Soup broth, milk, popsicles, homemade fruit smoothies, juice , etc, not just coffee. Hope this helps, congratulations on your weight loss so far !! Keep it up !!
kmt1973 92 Posted May 9, 2016 1. It hurts if I drink with food in my pouch. The reasons they don't want you to is bc it washes down the foodm, so you won't stay feeling full as long. 2. And 3. You don't have enough restriction. I hate Protein shakes. Don't limit yourself. I, myself make homemade cream Soups. There's a whole wide world of liquids out there. Going a few days without Protein protein protein won't hurt you. Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App
