I am betting most will say stay away from pizza. Everyone ive talked to stays away from white carbs. Burgers I read r ok if they are lean.

Omg I'm so sorry. I don't know if it's safe to eat those things yet. I just know nutritionally what you should eat. Wait for someone else to answer. Sorry about that.

I usually toss either the top or bottom bun and still focus on the patty. I have no issues eating bread, but only do so 1-2x a week.

Haven't tried pizza yet.

Considering you are 4 weeks post op a bit of hamburger might be ok without the bun. You will need to take it very slow and chew well. Sometimes beef is one of the harder Proteins to get used to for some people. I did not have a problem.

The bread, Buns, crust thing is very uncomfortable for most of us that have had bypass. First, it does not leave much room in your pouch for Protein and they are empty calories. Most important, bread products actually feel horrible. Even now 11 months post op, it does not feel good unless it is really toasty or almost like a cracker.

As far as pizza goes, I would not try it at this point. Way too soon. I would give it at least 4 months and then try a very very thin crispy crust. I eat pizza about once per month. I have my tiny little piece I get full and I am happy.

I have to say, I do miss eating a regular cheeseburger with the bun, pickles, ketchup......it just doesn't sit well with me and I don't like just eating the patty.

Good luck!

I'm also one month out tomorrow from being sleeved. Yay! I've been able to tolerate about half of a turkey burger with mild green chili and cheese. No bread of course and it was heavenly. Congrats!

@@Brandon Long I would just be careful to not slide back into the eating style and habits you had pre-surgery. Remember we are on a new road to eating differently than we did before. The surgery will not magically keep you from regaining the weight, it is just a tool. Overindulgence in pizza and hamburgers are certainly part of what gets many people overweight in the first place (speaking from experience :( ).

How about a pizza shake?? Haha just kidding.

When you graduate to regular foods, ......There are some great low carb options for pizza. Especially the crust can be made low carb, there are several recipes on pinterest. You can use turkey sausage, chicken Canadian bacon, low fat ham, turkey pepperoni, low fat cheese, veggies, etc.. and the sauce would be best if you make it yourself without all the processed sugar that usually is in store bought sauce. Just add herbs and Italian seasoning, garlic etc. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Turkey burgers are really good and high Protein.

Now if you are asking if it would be ok for pizza Hut pizza or a Sonic burger, then I would say....not recommended especially one month out. There are so many healthier options as mentioned above, it just takes a bit of extra effort to not sabotage yourself.

It all depends on the Doctor - every Doctor does things differently. I don't know about hamburgers -I for one can't wait for one. I don't need the bun. But, pizza - my doctor told me no bread, Pasta, rice, etc. for 9 months!

I'm 11 weeks out from RnY. I have a little trouble with the hamburger because it seems so dense. It fills up my tummy after one bite and seems to just sit there. That's without the bun. Just the meat itself.

I have had a couple slices of pizza but I use a fork and slide the toppings off of the crust and get rid of the crust. Actually pretty good.

At only one month out I would hope that you have more of a commitment to your weight loss than thinking when you can eat garbage food again, yes that is what got you to 400 pounds in the first place. Go find a great nutritionist and discuss what you should be eating/how much and when if ever you can have a healthy burger patty(no bun). Sorry to be so blunt but getting so close to poor eating habits now will not make you a success in the long run; I am sure you didn't have your stomach cut and guts rearranged just to go back to eating burgers and pizza DID you?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
