So I finally had surgery this morning and as a whole I feel pretty good. Pain is minimal except when I take a deep breath in. Knock on wood no neasua. Only real bad thing is dry mouth but I can get past that. I was up and walking 4 trips around the floor which they state is good. Where was everyone else 8 hours after surgery? Just need some reassurance that I am progressing well.

Yay. Awesome. :) I don't even have a surgeon yet. Waiting on a letter from Cleveland clinic telling me what to do next.

8 hours after surgery, I was sleeping lol. You're doing fabulous! Keep up the great work!!! Walk walk walk because if gas and pressure come, it's not very comfy.

Make sure you tell the nurse that it hurts when you breathe deeply. Hopefully/probably it's nothing, but it can be a sign of a pulmonary embolism. Glad you're feeling well otherwise and congratulations!

Yeah, you are doing great. My surgery was at 10am, I didn't wake until 11:30pm. They gave me ativan to control the nausea preop and I slept through recovery, the trip to my room, the np doing her visit....everything. Then woke dead awake at 11:30pm and noone would give me an ambien to get me back on schedule. It was awful having my days and nights messed up!

It hurt REALLY bad when I took deep breaths too!! keep ur speedometer oops sperometer handy I think that's what it is...the thingy u blow in. The chest pressure takes a few days to subside. At least 5 days for me. But still check with nurses. xoxo

I'm lucky, I take ambien for sleep. Although I wasn't allowed it in the hospital, as soon as I came home I restarted it and got back on a normal schedule. I'm still annoyed abt that. I have chronic insomnia, the NP didn't warn me she was taking me off the ambien for the hospital stay. Worried abt me taking hydro and ambien together, sheesh. Been taking both within a couple of hrs of each other for yrs....sometimes it helps to take a good medical history... Anyway, looks like the OP is on her way to a fast recovery. Other than the lack of sleep I was the same way. Recovery quickly and lose those pounds!

Do you by chance have a drain? It hurt some when I breathed after surgery too, but once they removed the drain it went away.

I was walking the night of surgery. It really helps you heal faster, so take every opportunity.

Congratulations!

I have chronic insomnia too. It's because I worked nights for over 13 years. I take ambien, melatonin, trazadone, magnesium, and belladonna for sleep. If I dont, I can stay up for 36 or more hours. It's crazy. I hate it. It is like my brain cant shut down. I wish I could sleep like normal people. However when I was in the hospital, I was able to sleep off and on, probably due to the pain meds causing sleepiness.

I take an ambien and a unasom atm. But without the ambien I can't get to sleep, the unasom keeps me asleep. I also can do the 36hr awake stretch and I'm a very grumpy person. But I didn't sleep much in the hospital mostly during the day, somehow they left me alone during the day and visited all night. My own bedroom was a welcome sight.
