So one week post op tomorrow and I believe the drain will be pulled. I've had experience with this in the past and almost passed out. Not looking forward to it, but am looking forward to it at the same time. If that makes sense. I know once it comes out healing will progress faster. But I am so not looking forward to the pain! *How was your experience of drains being being pulled if you had any?*

Mine was not really painful, it was just something I never felt before.

I guess it felt like pulling an alien object out of my body, which corresponded with reality. :)

It was weird... I remember the nurse asked to me take a deep breath, I inhaled air into my lungs and then gasped when she took it out.

It was a huge relief.

SCREW THAT DRAIN!!!! I had them pump me up with anti anxiety and pain meds through IV Before I let them touch it!!! I passed out when they pulled it 2 years ago from a gallbladder removal! I can't stand that drain. I requested NOT to have one but he still did. Praying for you girl. It will be out before u know it. Think about other things while they pull it. Gosh...I hated it.

I've never had a problem with drains. They pulled my sleeve drains while I was in the hospital and I pulled my own drains after three different plastic surgeries. There really should be no pain from pulling a drain....it feels weird, but if you are experiencing any kind of pain, that's not the norm.

I did have drains but they did not hurt when they came out! For me it was easiest part of this process! But I can understand how it might be hard for anyone else! I suggest taking your pain med 30 minutes!

I did not have drains for my sleeve surgery, but I had 2 drains for my tummy tuck/panni. It was the absolute worst part (having the drains). Ugh I hated them. They hurt so badly when they were in. I could not get comfortable at all. So yes, I know what you mean about looking forward to getting them out, but dreading it at the same time. The first drain they pulled out wasn't terrible. But then the second one stayed in longer, got irritated and I swear it felt like they ripped a huge chunk of skin out when they pulled it out. I was SOOOOO glad to have it out though. I guess I was just surprised with how much tube was actually in there. Yuk! Good luck!

I had a drain. Came out postoperative day 9. It didn't hurt. It's longer than I thought so I was more surprised than anything. I took a Tylenol before I left the house for my appointment.

A week is a long time. Mine was pulled on day 2 after surgery. However, it was painful. My entire abdomen cramped up something fierce.

When I had a Tummy Tuck done and the drains pulled it stung soooo bad! I was glad this time around the drain wasn't painful at all.

It did hurt, I didn't know what to expect. When it was out, I asked the doc how the heck long was that sucker? He said up to my tonsils. Felt like it during the pull. Hurt for about 15 seconds. Then meh.

I laughed at my husbands response as it was coming out! He said I didn't know it was that long! I told him this one was actually shorter than ye the Tummy Tuck one! It's amazing!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
