I have had the dizziness too - especially after exercising. (Though I had it today while shopping and there was no exercise involved.) My NUT said it was likely not enough carbs to be exercising for an hour at a time but that doesn't answer why it happened so much today. Not enough fluids? Not enough salt? I don't know. It does scare me a little because of what has happened to @djmohr. BP doesn't seem to be low. I am trying to remember to stand slowly and move my feet and arms a little to get the blood flowing before I stand as suggested. Ah the trials and tribulations of WLS! Down 75 pounds today (almost halfway) so I am certain somehow it will all be worth it in the end!

Elode,

Sorry to hear you’re having this trouble! Orthostatic hypotension is a side effect of weight loss surgery or quick weight loss, so it almost seems like an unfair punishment for you doing so well after your WLS!

As far as I can tell, there’s no great cure. As the others have suggested, you may be best off just trying to prevent bad side effects like falling. Get used to being careful when you stand up – know that your blood pressure may drop, so stand up slowly and be sure you have something to hang onto if needed.

Hopefully eventually it'll go away on its own as your body gets used to its new self - you've put it through a lot of change in the past year!

Ok so I went to the surgeons today and had them do labs. Everything was spot on! Well except for my cholesterol. It's on the higher side but that's nothing new, I get it from my dad ;( We have decided it was from dehydration at this point. He wasn't even mad at me for not exercising. He said I should but I'm doing great just by watching what I'm eating. I didn't realize I lost 50 Lbs in that 3 months since I had seen him! All is well :)

Mine was so bad that I got out of the car and took a swan dive into the driveway. Hurt my back and neck. Someone on here recommended Iron supplements and they have made the worst of the dizziness go away.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
