MR0218 28 Posted September 8, 2015 Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this... 6 months post op this past Saturday, (9/5/2015), and about a week ago I started experiencing what google seems to think are symptoms of hypoglycemia. I feel fine, then all of a sudden I get cold sweats, shaky, lightheaded and this strong desire to eat, especially something sweet. I feel quite thirsty too. This happened once last week as I was getting home from work, again Sunday evening, and last night I was woken out of my sleep because of this. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and/or if its normal. I have been able to control it by eating something, but don't know if I should let my doctor know. defibvt 348 Posted September 8, 2015 @@MR0218 I am a nurse of 28 years and those definitely do sound like symptoms of low blood sugars. I presume you do not have a history of diabetes? I can say that I to have have similar symptoms, since my surgery March 2, 2015, at work, when this are excessively busy and I can not get something to eat. The symptoms resolved very fast, after I do force myself to take the time to get something to eat, mostly a Protein drink. I would contact your primary care doctor and explain those systoms, but I would keep an emergency 'something', like a Protein Drink (you need sugar, which it haves, but the complex carbs and Protein helps maintain a "normal' blood sugar level), try to avoid all sugar drink/candy, as they can cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, but can lead to a rapid drop in blood sugar as well.... Just my advice. Good luck!
