Hi this is day 7 post op. I feel so weak and nauseated, can hardly get out of bed.So far it is so difficult to take my 8 cups of drink daily , usually 5 is my limit. Is this normal? when will I start to feel as my old self again?

I know how you feel! The first 10 days were pretty hard for me. The best thing you can do is drink Water (as much as you can), drink your Protein and keep moving. Each day will be a little better than the last. Hang in there!

I am 12 days post op and didn't really feel like I turned the corner back to "normal" feeling until about 8-9 days. Now I barely feel a thing. Don't forget that you can count any liquids (protein drinks, Jello, ect), not just Water. That helped me reached my fluids goal. And were you not sent home with something for nausea? Fatigue is normal, you are not taking in food (energy) and your body is just trying to recover. sleep as much as you can, move around when you're not asleep. Right now I am just battling hating the liquid diet and the emotional rollercoaster. So I promise, it gets better! Just hang in there!! :)

Today is day 7 for me as well, second day of no pain. Second day of better nausea but still took

Zofran (and still have some nausea). I eat alot of popcicles, I like warm liquids, allow

myself 1 cup Decaf coffee with non dairy Creamer and my tummy LOVES me!!! Was doing Jolly

Rancher Water additives, but got sick of all the sweet stuff. Now drinking room temp water

3/day. All I can manage. Beginning to feel like my old self, but very weak. Took an hour and

a half to get dressed this am. LOL Glad I took off extra time :) Wishing you all well!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
