Nausea and Pain 3 weeks post surgery

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow will be 3 weeks since my surgery and everything was fine until a few days ago. All of a sudden I've been having what can best be described as stomach muscle spasms. I called the doctor and they gave me some muscle relaxers. And also I've been experiencing nausea, which I didn't even have after surgery! I can't keep anything down--- I can barely keep a Protein Shake down but I definitely haven't been able to keep down this "puree" diet! Will this ever pass? Like I feel like this isn't right, is something wrong with me???

Perhaps you are suffering from a stricture. http://www.dartmouth-hitchcock.org/bariatric/risks_of_bariatric_surgery.html and https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?ContentTypeID=134&ContentID=155 Although I have not seen stomach muscle spasms as one of the symptoms. Most strictures occur suddenly several weeks after gastric bypass surgery.

Today was my 3 week post-op anniversary and I'm pretty nauseous as well, though I haven't had any vomiting thankfully. Hope you feel better! Keep your chin up and contact a doctor if you're worried.

I had a lot of nausea and stomach pains around 2 or 3 weeks and was vomiting. My surgeon gave me a prescription for some meds that calmed my stomach acids and I was able to eat and drink just fine. Sometimes it takes awhile for your stomach to adjust.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
