Yes, my insurance doesn't cover the surgery and the prices out of pocket here were too much! I got my insurance to cover all the preop testing thankfully. I began the process at the end of July and got scheduled for the 21st ^_^

Hey guys sorry was at work all day 10hr shifts are no joke on the liquid diet! I'm ready to knock out! xD the inverted sleeve is an extra step at the end to secure the new stomach against leaks. YouTube "Dr. Kim Inverted Sleeve" from Kim Bariatrics there's a quick 5 minute video or so that explains what it is exactly :)

Yeah I checked out the video after asking what it was lol... My doctor will be doing that as well I believe. Doing pre-op class the NUT said the doctor will be sewing as precautionary measure to assure there's no leaking.. Surgery is next week Thursday for me I'm nervous and scared at the same time.. Lol

Ah hehe sorry got to you too late lol but that's awesome! :) and yay!! You're literally almost there!! I'm excited for you!! it's totally normal to be a little scared and nervous, I've had previous surgeries done (none for this kind of surgery specifically) and all put me under full anasthesia it's like you're going for a nap and waking up 5 minutes later except I'm sure this time you'll probably feel some pressure or something from where they made the incesions ;) it'll be okay! Just remember the goal, a new healthy you! ^_^

Yea liquid diet sucks, my doctor allows one small meal and two shakes so it's manageable. Thought I would be more nervous at this point but I'm just ready to get it done.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
