@@ChunkyChocolate they make a chicken Soup flavored and an unflavored kind as well. I like it, if it's mixed well enough it's not too chalky or heavy. I also really like muscle milk pro series - 40g of Protein and they have a Cookies and creme and banana cream flavor that are both really yummy. Hope that helps. :)

This is all exactly how I feel too. I am three days from my surgery (Sept. 11). One moment I'm excited, then nervous, etc.

Actually, what I really want is for it to be over and done. I'm tired of this crazy waiting, not knowing what will happen, what it will be like after. I've read so many people's stories here, the only one thing that's consistent is that everyone's different!

The pre-op diet hasn't been so bad, and I keep telling myself that my diet afterward will actually be less restrictive (I'm restricted to Clear liquids only right now; full liquids after I get home from the hospital). I can't believe it, but I am actually looking forward to the pureed foods stage!

how has your surgery gone? I hope your recovery is smooth! Are you still in the hospital? ????????

I like the muscle milk pro right now too! Yum!!

I am 4 days in to my liquid diet (surgery on 9/24) and the mornings are fine but I am soooo grumpy in the afternoons and evenings! I find myself craving foods that I didn't even know I liked. However, I just keep reminding myself that I am doing this FOR myself and that I've got this. I'm 100% in, not 99%

I too, like @@toasty, am looking forward to the pureed stage!

@theonltwayla it really does get easier but man I would love just a bit of something crunchy. My mood really improved after day 4. I'm not that hungry anymore although I do claim to be starving at times its more so wanting something to eat besides broth and Protein shakes.

You're right, you got this!

@@TMG1980TMG I got back from the hospital yesterday afternoon, and everything is well. I am still sore of course, but the pain is very tolerable. I still need the Norco they have me on, but I am using the smaller dose (15ml), and I think in a day or or so I will be able to change to tylenol instead.

I have absolutely no appetite. The first day, I had difficulty drinking anything (even sipping Water hurt), so I was very concerned. But the second day was much better, and today even better yet. This morning I had my first Premier Protein shake, and I drank the whole 11oz. in about half an hour. Just have to keep remembering to sip, sip, sip my Water so I don't get dehydrated. A few times I have forgotten and have taken in a whole mouthful; ugh! It hurt. Just sip, sip, sip.

I am so happy to be on "the other side" though! Totally worth it. No regrets.

Thanks everyone for all of the positive thoughts!

How did you manage the barium swallow test the day after surgery? Was it difficult to get the drink down? Im worried about that. My surgery is Wednesday. Congrats on surgery completion!!

I didn't have a barium swallow test. My surgeon didn't require it. My guess is that you will simply have to sip it slowly, there is no other way.

And thanks! I know you will do great too! Good luck! I'll be thinking of you and sending good thoughts your way.

@@Knitchic The craving for the crunch is so real, popsicles kind of help haha

@@toasty glad to hear your positive experience and that you’re loving the other side, can’t wait to join you!

@@India928 I was told you just take one or two small sips for the swallow test

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
