s0rda 339 Posted October 24, 2015 I'm amazed by people returning to work so quickly! I'm Canadian and we get 4-6 weeks off after this surgery and my surgeon recommended taking the 6 weeks! And some of you are returning 13 days after surgery?! I think I would be panicking were that the case for me. It seems so soon! I'm happy to hear that everyone is managing okay though. It can't be easy. None of my co-workers know about the type of surgery I'm having so I'm hoping to return eating puréed and introducing solids at the very least. I told everyone I started a diet in September so any weight loss wouldn't necessarily be attributed to my time off and the surgery. I respect those who share but for me this is a very private journey. I hope I'm able to keep it that way. I understand completely about being private only a few people know about my surgery, most of my family doesn't know and that's how I prefer to have it. I went back to school 3 days post op. It's hard but do-able. Best of luck on your recovery Sent from my SM-N915P using Tapatalk

Meganedh 8 Posted October 24, 2015 I am one day post op and am home. I had a hernia repair along with vsg. I am ok as long as I am sitting or standing but in the worst pain of my life when I try to get up or down. I wonder how long this will last?

And I had surgery on October 19th and I'm needing to take naps still. I get very tired. It's great you're able to return to school 3 days post-op. I hope you're finding time to rest too. If these posts have taught me anything about this process, it's that recovery is unique to each person. I suppose the best we all can do is learn to listen to our bodies. I know I never used to, which is part of the reason I needed bypass in the first place. I'm so excited for this journey now though. I'm amazed at how much happier I feel already! When I first came home I had pain but it was manageable. The downfall for me was emotions. I would cry over small things and I just couldn't understand it because I'm not a crier. I think after surgery my body just felt vulnerable and I had to learn how to cope with that. I'm better now but I think being on shakes only has really tested the little bit of patience I do have. But I just try to see the silver lining in all of this and remember this is only temporary and I wanted this. The journey and all the obstacles I endure now will just benefit and reward me later. Jenaenae84 118 Posted October 24, 2015 @@julbel721 I went thru about a week where I needed to nap each day from 1230 to 2. But all the sudden that need stopped. I think it is just our body healing. And healing takes rest. I am heading back to work next tuesday and very nervous about it. Is anyone else heading back and what are your feelings. How fid you pack your food? I am not even on softs yet. I went back on Monday which was 13 days after surgery. I teach first grade, so I'm moving a lot. I did fine. I was really tired Monday-Wednesday nights. But the last two have been better. I pack a ton of stuff in my lunch bag just in case: Greek yogurt, sf pudding, peanut butter/crackers, string cheese, Protein Shake. It has worked so far! Good luck! You can have crackers and chesse I was told baby type food until I'm 4 weeks out just are you able to handle the chesse and crackers? My surgery was Oct 5th and I'm hoping I'm able to tolerate that type of food soon.
edie091371 544 Posted October 24, 2015 @@Jenaenae84 I can't have crackers yet...just got moved to soft foods. That was thinner me answering my post. But all surgeons are different and have different eating schedules. I just got scrambled eggs for the first time so I am a happy girl!!
