6 month post op issues

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 months post op and not sure what is going on. I am experiencing major exhaustion after I eat. It doesn't matter what I eat, fruits, veggies, chips, doesn't matter. I HAVE to take a short nap. This started a few weeks ago and it seems to be getting worse. My desire to eat is getting worse too. I force myself to eat but things that I enjoyed even a few weeks ago taste bad. I literally am getting to the point to where I'm going all day without eating. It's either crash or not eat. I'm worried that it's becoming a major issue. Anyone else have this? I'm losing weight and things have been great until now. Please help

fruit and chips (if you mean potato chips) are very high in carbs, and I know potato chips are not on my list of can eat, pretty much ever, and only 1 serving of fruit per day. As far as the veggies, it depends on what veggies you eat. Carrots, peas, corn and potatoes are all high carb veggies.

Do you count your carbs? The reason I ask, is because pre-surgery I had uncontrolled diabetes, and I used to nod out like I was a junkie, when I ate anything high in carbs. I'd take a nice nap, get up and repeat. Carbs were knocking me out.

If you don't feel better, I think maybe a call to your NUT or Dr. would be in order, to make sure you aren't having high blood sugar issues. I hope you feel better soon!

After surgery some individuals experience low blood sugar (reactive hypoglycemia). This occurs to both individuals with diabetes and those who did not have diabetes prior to surgery. The easiest way to test for this is by measuring your blood sugar levels when you get tired after you eat. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/diabetes/expert-answers/reactive-hypoglycemia/faq-20057778
