Leesa926 72 Posted September 7, 2015 I went to the seminar and then had my first meeting with my surgeon. I had already looked into this for a while but when I met with him my mind was blank without many questions. Now I find myself with a lot of questions that I'm sure he answered over the three months that I have to wait but just wanted to know how often did everybody meet with your surgeon prior to surgery. As far as I can tell I may only have one more pre-op appointment with him. I'll ask that at my next appointment with NUY but figured I would ask here. ShrinkingPeach 1,291 Posted September 7, 2015 Saw him at my consult and one pre-op appointment a week before surgery.
ssflbelle 829 Posted September 7, 2015 I saw mine for the first time June 17. My insurance wanted a 6 month supervised diet. So I see him once a month. I have already seen him 3 times and have lost an additional 20 pounds since he put me on a high Protein low carb diet. However he didn't say I had to lose a certain amount. HE also didn't say when I would have the surgery. I am thinking sometime in Jan if the insurance approves of it.
Trinn 139 Posted September 7, 2015 He usually does the bariatric surgery info/orientation at my nearby health provider, so I saw him the first time for that. Then I had an initial consult with him, that was an hour. Then when my surgery was approved, about a month later, I saw him again for another hour, to get ready. Then I saw him on the morning of surgery, to check in, and the next day to check in on me and discharge me. I have another appointment 2 weeks after surgery to see him, and then regular ones for a few times over the coming year.
MrsRoboto 370 Posted September 7, 2015 I didn't see mine at all until I'd completed my 3 months of weigh-ins with the nurse. Then I got to meet him for the first time and then I met him a second time a few weeks later for my pre-op appointment. That was it.
