So I had surgery Wednesday the 2nd. I'm sipping all Clear Liquids, but I feel like I can sip a good amount. Is this normal? Being able to sip a cup of chicken broth? I don't have any pain or nausea with all my clear fluids. I just want to make sure I'm not hurting anything!

You're not. Drink what is comfortable to you. I was able to take larger drinks right away. I spoke to my surgeon about it and he said as long as it was comfortable to me it's fine. I can take 3 larger drinks at once and then need to take a break for a few minutes and then can take 3 larger drinks again. It really depends on the person. After a few weeks/months you will be able to drink like normal again.

Hey! Thanks for asking this! I too have worried that I am doing something wrong when I can drink pretty easily. What I've come to understand is that it's *very* hard for us to "stretch" our sleeve during the phase one liquids. Once we start eating things that don't slip in so easily, we'll have the full feelings. But in the meantime, if you can do the liquids, do them. The one caveat is that if you're on liquid Vicodin, be careful, because the pain killer can actually mask your discomfort. :-)

Oh great advice with the pain killer!!! I'm officially on day four which means I can start full liquid diet. I'm NERVOUS! But excited to have something other than clear fluids.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
