Best whey protein powder

Recommended Posts

you're probably going to get a lot of different opinions - people's tastes are different. I personally like products by Syntrax and unjury. Some companies have one-serving packets - you can always try some of those to see what you like before buying huge tubs of something you might not be crazy about.

Whichever Protein powder you choose, make sure it's either whey protein isolate or soy protein isolate. Those two are the highest quality, most absorbable Proteins out they.

These have been my favorite:

Plus they come in single serve pouches! Oh and this little gadget was a life saver:

BPA_Free_Blender_Ball_Plastic_Protein_Sh

There are good shaker (blender) bottles and not so great. Amazon has some for less than $10 and are well worth the money.

I really like this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Body-Fortress-Chocolate-Peanut-Butter-Super-Advanced-Whey-Protein-Powder-32-oz/39649622

It's a very good price, and it's 30g of Protein a scoop and tastes like brownie batter! I put one scoop in 8 oz of milk and would have that three times a day. With the 8g of Protein from the milk, it would end up being 114g of protein just from three cups every day. They have a chocolate Peanut Butter and vanilla flavor too. ^_^

I use Precision Engineering Whey Protein Isolate the chocolate one and the vanilla one. They are both good. I love even the smell of the Vanilla! For unflavored I use Doc Hale's Whey-licious. I haven't experimented much with the other flavors. instead I just add flavors to these to get what I want. Eggface website has a lot of recipes - http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/06/my-favorite-protein-shake-recipes.html

Remember your tastes may change after surgery so try not to buy huge batches now if you can help it and try samples whenever you can to see what you think before spending the money on larger portions.

Hey ashlegal thank you very much thxz for tha picz would it be cheaper on Amazon or in a store thxz again and have a niceday / nicenite god bless

The only place I ever found that brand was at Vitaminshoppe and they were not only more expensive than Amazon but they didn't have as big as a variety. Plus, having everything mailed was much more convenient.

Chike is my absolute favorite, particularly their iced coffee and chocolate. You have to order them online, but they have a starter sample pack with a single serving of each of their flavors. Like everyone said, people's preferences vary but Chike's the best for me :-)

1 baby girl, you can get all the nectar products from mybariatricpantry.com. They have a sample pack and will let you ask for specific flavors. And I found them great to work with!

Hi there! My surgery was just 9/2. I was very persistent before surgery and wanted to make sure I had my cabinets full of what I needed, but the day I got home from surgery...my taste buds completely changed. It's also SO HARD to take Protein in right now and the easiest way is through room temp Isopure. Don't spend too much money on all sorts of protein until maybe a couple weeks after surgery. :) To me, Protein Shakes are too thick! I still can't drink them comfortably. Best of luck!! :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
