Pre-Op Diet and the Monster Inside

Recommended Posts

Hey y'all. I'm on my third day of the liquid pre-op diet and there seems to be a monster living inside my stomach! It is quite angry.

Question for those in the know. Does this monster shut up after the sleeve surgery? If so, is it right away?

It doesn't hurt, it's just embarrassing when in public. Seriously LOUD!! ????

The Pre op diet is HORRIBLE. I was so hungry. AFterwards it hurt to swallow Water. I was not hungry for about 3 weeks or so. Some people say they don't get hungry but I definitely do. I get ravenously hungry but eat about 5 or 6 bites and it is gone.

Nope. Mine is a loud and hateful beast. After surgery I thought I would no longer feel hungry but this turned out to be incorrect in my case. I get hungry periodically and when I do it's extreme, loud and urgent. Good news: it takes about two bites of something to shut it down for hours so I just plan for it daily. There's always a way :-)

I'm not really hungry but my sleeve is a loud little girl! She grumbles and rumbles all day long, lol. Every drink I take every bite I eat she has something to say. It's not painful just annoying.... get used to it. From what I have been told it takes a while for it to go away if it ever really does.

Well, I'm glad the beast/monster can be tamed with just a few bites. Right now, it refuses to be satisfied. But just have today and tomorrow the deed is done.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
