chest pressure PAIN ~ Help!

Recommended Posts

:help:Hi. I was banded in April and I recently had my 2nd fill. After my 1st fill I didn't notice a thing so when I went back to Dr. Tishler he said that it could have had some air bubbles in the tubing so this 2nd fill he really filled me up. When I drink fluids, it goes down fine. When I try to eat chicken or beef, it easily gets stuck! A few times, the chest pain was so bad I had to vomit! From that time after I eat so slow now and not I CHEW CHEW CHEW, but sometimes I feel like it is gonna get caught still. Is this normal? I feel like I can't eat with other people because I eat so slow now, I hate making them wait at the resturant or at home at the dinner table. Also I feel like when I eat I get filled but not full. Almost like I could eat more but I am sick of chewing but in an hour I could eat more. I still have some cravings but I don't think that I wanna get another fill if food gets caught as it is? How do you know when you've found your sweet spot? Lastly, I know this may sound weird but a few times when I have eaten bread or sugar even the littlest amount...I get pain in my left shoulder?! It seems like a weird correlation I know but could it be from the carbs? I don't think the shoulder pain could be from anything. Oh and why would anyone need to be rebanded and how do you know that your pouch has stretched? Can anyone help this newbie?!:hungry:

I sometimes get food stuck 2-3 times in one day, sometimes I just give up eating for an hour or so and then try again with a different food. Breads and slightly dry meats don't go well. I have low blood sugar problems on top of all other lap band restrictions, I tried eating Peanut Butter last night to stabilize my blood sugar, who would think you could get peanut butter stuck!? I did. We just have to eat slowly, chew a million times and avoid what seems to cause problems. You might try cutting the meat into really small pieces and chewing really well, or try adding some broth or a small amount of gravy to make it slide down easier. Too much would include too much fat of course and defeat our purpose in trying to lose weight. Have you lost much? I have gained 8 lbs since my Dr. said I should only take my Fluid pill as needed instead of daily. It is truly depression to see that number on the scale. I haven't been exercising like I should have either. DO you struggle with food cravings? I wish I would stop wanting to eat fried foods and sugar. Good luck!! Misty

This seems to be happening to me now that I'm on my 2nd fill. I've resorted to eating spaghettio's a few times; as they go down easily.

Seems to be no rhyme or reason to what gets stuck and when. Friday night; I had a bad stuck on a filet mignon. I was really upset; couldn't eat it. Tried another filet mignon yesterday - no problem at all.

As long as I get my Protein in, I'm happy.

So day to day, for me is varying. STRANGE thing this band! lol

What I did to remedy your problem. My doctor had me eat chicken while I was get my fill. When I could eat the chicken and there was some resistence but, it was still going down he stopped. My last fill was over 2 years ago and I have been happy with that restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
