Hi Everyone! Due to my insurance I will have to travel 6 hours away for my surgery. I am worried about the ride home. My surgon recommended hourly breaks to move and prevent blood clots. Any tips on how I can prepare for the most comfortable trip home?

Bring a nice big pillow to put between you and the seat belt, and you can lean forward and press it close to you.

Probably plan out the stops ahead of time too.

You can also wear compression socks to help prevent clots. Stay hydrated as best you can.

Wear the loosest clothes you have so that nothing touches your belly that doesn't have to.

I agree with the last comment that you should wear the most soft and loose items of clothing you can find for travel home!

Take a break every hour and 1/2 or so to move just a bit if you can. It helps keep all systems moving if you can stroll just a short bit in a parking lot or somewhere convenient. And yes on the pillow. Good luck
