gabbisha 28 Posted September 5, 2015 I'm 1+ week after surgery. I seem to lose weight everywhere around my body except my stomach . Is that normal? I don't want to be slimmer with a big belly. And I'm not able to do sit ups yet. Anyone else having this problem?
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted September 5, 2015 Yes it's normal. That will likely be the last place you lose, but it will happen.
TJBintheOC 104 Posted September 5, 2015 I've lost 40lbs, but my upper arms and belly are still flabby. It will happen. Good luck. ❤️
Babbs 14,681 Posted September 5, 2015 You have no idea where you will lose weight first at 1 week out. Give it some time. I think by 6 months out you will be pleasantly surprised at how much of your stomach you will have lost by then. Be patient.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted September 5, 2015 1 week out and your stomach is still swollen from surgery.
Aia8215 2 Posted September 6, 2015 Remember your middle is swollen, not just the incisions that you can see, but the inside took a beating when they cut into you.You will notice more weight loss around the middle once you heal. Give yourself 6 weeks or so and the middle will look better as well.

lauraellen80 855 Posted September 6, 2015 My midsection was pretty swollen, bloated, and tender for a couple weeks after surgery. At one week out, don't even worry about it. That being said, I definitely notice that while I've lost a lot of my gut, it's still bigger now than it was when I was this weight several years ago. But I'm still less than 3 months post-op, so I figure it will even out more as time goes on, though I'll probably have a pooch of some loose skin.
gabbisha 28 Posted September 6, 2015 I was 198 when I went in to surgery. Hope I don't have that much loose skin
BarrySue 602 Posted September 6, 2015 Belly gains weight first, belly loses weight last. It's practically a greek tragedy. Unless you're one of those pear-shaped women, in which case, I hate you (I don't actually, I'm just insanely jealous ).
