Surgery is so far away!

Recommended Posts

My date is scheduled for January 15th 2016 and it feels like forever!! Is there anyone else who has a surgery date next year? How are you staying patient?

I am getting so anxious and wishing I could move my date up!

Most of us had a 3-6 month wait for surgery. Some even longer (they wait years in Canada)! Take the time to learn about WLS, nutrition, develop new eating habits, start an exercise regimen, etc...knowledge is power! I've found that the people who really did their homework and learned as much as they could ahead of time seem to be the most successful post op. Keep reading the forums, pick up some books on the subject, watch YouTube videos. It will make the time go by faster, too!

I wanted to schedule surgery right away but I have a 6 month wait (probably Feb). At first I was upset but now trying to implement new habits, finding Protein sources I like and stopping soda ahead time, it's probably a blessing. The time will go by fast.

Exactly what Babbs said. I waited five months between first visit, three month diet, and scheduling. I can't believe now that soon I will be two years out. The time passed so quickly once I got over the rough spots. The pre-op waiting was the hardest part.

Thank you all! You're right. This will give me enough time to slowly work myself into an exercise regimen I can stick to after surgery. I'm very thankful for that!

I've been doing lots of research and watching tons of videos too. So excited to finally start this journey. :)

@, start stocking up on vitamins/gummies/chewables and Protein Powder mix packs. I ordered mines on Amazon.com where they can send you packs/cases once per month or every two months. Do a lot of research also on the surgery and what to drink and eat afterwards. I will miss drinking sodas but being slim and healthy will be much better.

You can do it! I graduate on September 30 from a 12 month insurance requirement!!!!

Pick one habit to focus on each month. First I got rid of soda, then focused on Portion Control, next increasing Protein, then increasing water....helps pass the time and shift to new post op habits.
