Former csection mommies

I had 2 C-sections and I think the C-sections were worse. It was harder to get up and get moving around after the C-sections. Just my opinion, sleeve was an easier recovery! Good luck!

I had 2 C-sections as well. They were worse. But I also would say it wasn't a walk in the park recovery for the sleeve. I was really weak and tired. I wish I would have taken more time off of work. I only took one week and should have done two.

Good luck-

I've had 3 c-sections and they are (by far) more painful than my VSG.

I agree with above comments! I took off 2 weeks and wished I would have taken 3! You are very tired and adjusting and I wish I had taken that extra week off!

I also had a c-section and consider that recovery to be more painful than my sleeve. It helps that there isn't a newborn to care for, in addition to other post-partum "stuff" (sparing the gory details for those that have not given birth).

I would liken the pain of recovery closely to that of gall bladder removal, minus all of the eating restrictions. The weakness that follows the sleeve I would liken to recovering from a rough flu. That drained, weak, need fluids - kind of exhaustion.

I agree with the other posts. The pain of a C-section didn't compare to my VSG. The lack of energy after the surgery was harder for me to deal with than the amount of pain I felt. I found out from conversations with friends getting up and moving as much as possible after surgery can often decrease the amount of pain you deal with.

Raises hand - my c-section especially the 2nd one was way worse than my sleeve recovery. I couldn't get out of bed for several weeks post c-section without help.

Thank you everyone for your answers. I have only had 1 csection 3 years ago and I know the recovery of the sleeve won't be easy either. I just wanted to see how it was gonna be. Csections are horrible. I hate the fact that there are alot of people who think it's easy and not a big deal when it really is. I appreciate all the posts though :)

I'm going to play Devils advocate. My sleeve recovery was worse than my 3 c sections. I had a much harder time. Not sure why.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
