MollyF22 62 Posted September 4, 2015 I was wondering if any women have had csections before this and is the pain afterwards any similar? Or worse? Thanks!
KristenLee 60 Posted September 4, 2015 I had 2 C-sections and I think the C-sections were worse. It was harder to get up and get moving around after the C-sections. Just my opinion, sleeve was an easier recovery! Good luck!
SeahawksFan 444 Posted September 4, 2015 I had 2 C-sections as well. They were worse. But I also would say it wasn't a walk in the park recovery for the sleeve. I was really weak and tired. I wish I would have taken more time off of work. I only took one week and should have done two. Good luck- LA
lilsebastian 0 Posted September 4, 2015 I've had 3 c-sections and they are (by far) more painful than my VSG.
KristenLee 60 Posted September 4, 2015 I agree with above comments! I took off 2 weeks and wished I would have taken 3! You are very tired and adjusting and I wish I had taken that extra week off!
Need4Change 26 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) I also had a c-section and consider that recovery to be more painful than my sleeve. It helps that there isn't a newborn to care for, in addition to other post-partum "stuff" (sparing the gory details for those that have not given birth). I would liken the pain of recovery closely to that of gall bladder removal, minus all of the eating restrictions. The weakness that follows the sleeve I would liken to recovering from a rough flu. That drained, weak, need fluids - kind of exhaustion. Edited September 4, 2015 by Need4Change
SleevedShannon 6 Posted September 4, 2015 I agree with the other posts. The pain of a C-section didn't compare to my VSG. The lack of energy after the surgery was harder for me to deal with than the amount of pain I felt. I found out from conversations with friends getting up and moving as much as possible after surgery can often decrease the amount of pain you deal with. shellyd67 198 Posted September 5, 2015 IMO, c-section was WAY worse !!
SleeveandRNYchica 1,155 Posted September 5, 2015 Raises hand - my c-section especially the 2nd one was way worse than my sleeve recovery. I couldn't get out of bed for several weeks post c-section without help.
tdhaddox 118 Posted September 5, 2015 Agree, C/S was WAY worse!
majorsmama 91 Posted September 5, 2015 C-section was way worse. With vsg, you don't feel like your abdomen is gonna rip open with every movement.
MollyF22 62 Posted September 5, 2015 Thank you everyone for your answers. I have only had 1 csection 3 years ago and I know the recovery of the sleeve won't be easy either. I just wanted to see how it was gonna be. Csections are horrible. I hate the fact that there are alot of people who think it's easy and not a big deal when it really is. I appreciate all the posts though
jess9395 5,449 Posted September 6, 2015 Add me to the chorus! C section was way worse pain wise!
attorneyshannon 17 Posted September 6, 2015 Add me to the chorus too. I had four and this was nothing in comparison. Also, the incisions are a joke compared to a c sec and healed so fast.
AlanaRN 419 Posted September 6, 2015 I'm going to play Devils advocate. My sleeve recovery was worse than my 3 c sections. I had a much harder time. Not sure why.
