2 years post op question

I'm 2 years out and here recently have noticed I can eat a whole lot more, including bread. I've been good for 2 years about not eating bread and rice, then one day recently I tried a breadstick and it was like a gateway drug for me. I had gotten down to 160 from 330 but I think the last 20 was from the gallbladder surgery I had to have due to rapid weightloss, for the last 7 months I have struggled with 16 pounds weight gain and even went back to weight watchers to try to lose and hit goal. I understand that eventually your body catches up to the weight loss and I found out by joining weight watchers that even though I was eating small meals I was still eating pretty bad. I feel that it happened over night and I never pushed it to stretch out my stomach but I can eat so much more now and it scares me because I don't want to put the weight back on.

Has anyone had this problem?

Any suggestions or tips to get it back off?

Obviously working out and stop eating the carbs would help, I know this.

No, I haven't had this problem but do feel your pain.

For me, the best way not to crave starches, is not to eat starches.

I used to follow weight watchers, too and know that although it has good points (no pun intended!), it is not a great program for helping me manage macro nutrients. I found that tracking food in MyFitnessPal is much better for that.

If I were in your shoes, I would: recognize and Celebrate how far I have come; make an appointment with my NUT; and go back to basics (track my food, focus on Protein and Water, avoid starches, and exercise).

You may find this drastic - but I am betting that if you went back to a pre-surgery diet of Protein shakes and green veggies only with a little chicken or fish that after about 3 days your cravings would go way down. You could do it for a week or so as though you are shrinking your liver down. I am worried about the sleeve 'growing' too, and would think that this would maybe help you get re-focused. Likely you would drop about 4-5 pounds in a week which would be a good jumpstart. I have a good friend who had her surgery 3 years ago and did this. It helped her tremendously.

Thank you,thats what I was thinking was going back to basics from the beginning, cutting out all carbs and starches and focus on my Proteins and greens. Luckily my boyfriend just had the sleeve so I won't be eating out with him like we were.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
