The Best Decision I've Ever Made

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I wanted to post a thread to all of you who are still out there wondering if this is the right thing to do. A few weeks ago I was one of you. I was still asking myself if I really should have the surgery. I just wanted to let you know how I feel now, almost 3 weeks out.

IT WAS THE BEST THING I COULD HAVE EVER DONE FOR MYSELF!

Yes, I had the blues the first week or so, and the liquid diet has been the bane of my existance. But, I have to tell you, when you can visibly see the weight just dropping when you used to struggle so hard to even maintain a steady weight before - it's worth it.

I also used to suffer from chronic fatigue. I would go to bed at 9pm, struggle to wake up at 5 am and drag myself around all day.

I HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY NOW! Already!!

I can pop out of bed at 5 am, hop on the elliptical, and I am full of energy ALL DAY LONG!

I feel so alive!

So I just wanted to tell you, if you are still having doubts - not even three weeks out and I'm so happy I could cry.

~♥

This is amazing. I am so happy for you. I too go to bed fairly early and struggle to wake up around 0530. I want so badly to have that energy. I am pre-op...moving along quite well in the process. All prerequisites are complete just waiting for an appointment date with my NP so we can finally submit to insurance. Best wishes.

I wish I felt that energetic a few weeks out! I feel like I was chronically dizzy and exhausted for 5 months. Now--a year out--I feel great

Its been 5 days post op and I hate this liquid phase. Ive been walking but I have this burning pain near the main incision area, its painful to get in amd out of bed. Other than that everything seems to be okay, the reflux and gas suck but walking definitely helps a lot. I hope to be happy like you soon! Please tell me this burning pain goes away!

I am also 5 days out and experience the same symptoms. It's super tough, I feel like I want to hit the ground running and when I get up, clinch and hold my incisions in pain lol. I can't wait to feel amazing although I can already feel this is the best decision I have made for myself. I am however a little concerned about the amount of fluids I am able to drink. I am on the Protein shake and already have had 30 Oz today which equals 60g Protein. Is that normal? I see most are consuming less than 500 calories a day the first couple weeks but for me I can easily reach 800. Weird or?

Thats great! Today is the first day O feel that I may be able to meet my required fluids, but you're tummy sounds like its doing awesome. I definitely want to hit the ground running but that pain brings me back to reality real fast! Good luck

@@ITGeekGirl thanks for the encouragement! How awesome that you already have that much energy! Please, do you mind sharing your sw/bmi? I'm hoping that I'll be able to get going on my aerobics quickly. I'm done with not having energy.

My starting weight was 289 and my starting BMI was 42 43. I was in the beginning stages of Diabetes and fatty liver disease.

Don't worry - when you start to eat solids you will feel the restriction. I thought at the beginning that they made a mistake and left most of my stomach in. Then three weeks later I ate some scrambled eggs and rejoiced! lol I could sure feel the restriction. I love it!

Thanks for sharing! Your post is a huge inspiration for me. My surgery is coming up this Tuesday, and I'm concerned about the recovery time. I've had several open abdominal surgeries and have always bounced back quickly. I don't have time to lay about. Hoping this will be as easy as the hiatal repair I had 6 years ago.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
