I was in recovery for 2 hours, and only remember bits and pieces of it. I 'woke up' when they brought me to my room and I stood/pivoted to get into the bed that was in the room. That's the last think I remember until about 2 1/2 hours later when the 'day nurse' was telling the night nurse about me and they came over to check how many 'holes' I had.

Then it seems like a blur. Someone was ALWAYS coming in: vital's check, linens, "hello I am the patient advocate" etc.

OH, and they did a diabetic finger prick like every hour. Not sure why.... I am not diabetic.

The staff on the floor I was on was amazing.... just VERY peppy.... and I just kept pressing that demeral button everytime I got the green light on it. Turns out the pain was from the gas, not the actual surgical area :)

@@doyouhear - blood sugar checks are protocol after abdominal surgery. Our bodies react from trauma from the surgery so they just monitor. If there is a problem, they can see the trend and address it. I am not Diabetic either, but every abdominal surgery I have had, it has been protocol.

I think I was in recovery about 1-2 hours.

i went in at 4pm woke up past 9pm (only in surgery standard amount of time though) - so quite a while but i always react sleepily/strongly to GA etc so it was expected.

I was asleep at 8am, surgery was done around noon... I have some memories around 2, but everything seemed to clear up around 4.

I went back for surgery around 8:30 and they woke me up in recovery around 11:00 11:30. They said my blood pressure had been pretty high right after surgery and I woke up to the nurse beside my bed with the anesthesiologist telling her to give me another dose of meds. Then the first thing she asked me was to rate my pain.. Couldn't talk so I held up fingers lol and dozed for another hour before they moved to my room.

I was in recovery for 2 hours. My surgery took 5 hours. Some complications, including a stapler that was stuck in the closed position, and adhesions and scar tissue from a previous abdominal surgery. I got an infection in the hospital, and was finally released after a week. I'm doing fine now. I wouldn't say I"m typical. Plenty of people seem to have things much easier in and out. :)

I was in recovery for about four hours because I was waiting for a room to open. I didn't wake up officially until just before they took me to the room. I do remember waking up earlier, being in pain and telling them so like a just out of surgery loopy person! I think they gave me a good dose of pain needs and it knocked me out!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
