My surgeon says " no alcohol ever"

But, sorry- that's not going to happen.

How soon after sleeve surgery did you have a glass of wine? Is there anything else you drink?

At 4 months out around the holiday season, I imbibed with a Bloody Mary (tomato juice is nutritious, right???) No problems, just couldn't finish it and didn't even get a buzz :(

I'm a year out, and I drink very occasionally. No beer, but wine and usually vodka and lite cranberry juice.

My program says caffeine and alcohol after 3 months in moderation.

I gave up alcohol before surgery, and I doubt it is something I pick up again.

You do have to be careful with alchol. It might hit you very differently than before. Also there are many stories that there is a great danger of alcoholism post sleeve...http://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/20120618/after-bariatric-surgery-alcohol-abuse-more-likely

I have had 3 mixed drinks since surgery. Two of them I couldn't finish because I was at dinner and no drinking while eating. The first one I had after surgery I got quite the buzz, that was probably 10 weeks out. I don't wish to drink often due to the empty calories and honestly I didn't drink that much before. :)

About 4 months. Used to favor red wine but it sometimes gives me reflux now so I'll go for white more often now. Watch the empty calories. They can derail your weight loss fast. I simply logged everything for the first year while I was losing and worked it in as an occasional treat. These days, I'll go for a skinny margarita, vodka\light cranberry or Captain and (flattened a bit as the bubbles make me uncomfortable). If I gain a bit, it's the first thing to go.

I have a gffriend that had surgery 5 years ago she lost all the excess weight And now has a completely normal life and drinks beer on the weekends like a college pro

But remember her surgery was 5 years ago and she still watches if she is gaining

My doc's plan says no alcohol for 6 months.

My surgeon said could try some in 6 months. Doesn't sound good at 2 weeks, 2 days out!

I was told no alcohol for 6 months b/c your blood is thin and you can get drunk way faster. It can mess up your stomach, but I will probably never drink again..

i waited six months as per my surgeon's instructions, and stick with small and rare glasses of wine here and there.

When I drink, I usually drink wine -- typically 3-5 ounces of wine.

I just checked my MFP menus and saw I've had wine on 3 on the last 7 evenings.

Pretty moderate, I'd say.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
