Not at all...4 weeks today and down 30 lbs since surgery. Cravings are limited and are easily silenced by Protein. If he's talking about vigor of workouts or lifting...then maybe, especially in the early going, where those activities are generally off-limits. But even that should resolve quickly. I am starting to worry about muscle loss, but will be going back to the Iron today to put an end to that.

I don't see how but ok..,mine was Aug 24th and it was easy breezy compared to what I have read on here with peoples complications. No complaints here.

My husband and I were both sleeved last year on September 11. We both had an incredibly easy time of it. He has had a very slight bit of acid reflux that he didn't have before, but other than that, it's been wonderful.

Everyone is the same in that we are all different. Maybe he was telling you that as sort of a joke, men are well known for being medical wimps ;-)

Thanks everyone .. I talked to doctor he said he meant men's organs larger and makes surgery little more difficult .

He is doing well waiting on a room.

Praise to God I've had 0 nausea. Having trouble getting all Water & Protein in. But doing great for 10 days out

I was sleeved on 9/1 and just got out of the hospital today. So far so good. Had some discomfort from gas, but otherwise things went pretty smoothly. Its unbelievable how little Fluid it takes to feel full.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
