I'm 2 weeks post op and since yesterday I've got a strage feeling in my chest, especially in the mornings. It's hard to describe, but it happens when I inhale air into my lungs, like... they don't have enough room to expand? I didn't expierience anything like that earlier on. Also, it kind of gets better throughout the day.

I wouldn't call it a pain but it's definitely a discomfort. Anyone knows if this is normal?

I felt this exact same feeling. They gave me some plastic thing with a ball inside to use to stenghten my breath. I did it a few times a day. Also that chest pain might also be gas. To be on the safe side, you really should talk with your doctor, it's always the best choice. Tell your doctor how you feel.

It was an inhaler excersize breathing thing I used. I'm sorry I don't know the name of it.

You could be developing pneumonia. It's definitely worth mentioning to your surgeon.

Well, I couldn't reach my doctor today so I went do the ER. I was given chest Xray and the abdominal ultrasound, and nothing seemed wrong, my HR, BP and saturation were also fine. They ruled out pneumonia and the doctor didn't seem very concerned about the blood clots. I'm still having some doubts tough... From what I read, you can't rule out blood clots with Xray. I guess I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I'm glad you went to the ER. I remember having pain in my lungs after surgery. It will go away. It always hurt when I took a full breath. Its from surgery. But going to ur Dr to make sure is always the best choice, your doctor knows everything about you so getting your doctor's approval is your best assurance.

I had the same thing. It resolves itself. I was scared thinking I can't take a huge breath..what's constricted. It's the surgery. Organs were moved and "jostled" around. It'll be ok. Good luck. ❤️

I had it and my doc said from all the gas..they pump a lot into you to do the surgery.

My doc prescribed GAS-x strips, I had 1-2 about every couple of hours until my symptoms subsided

And the I use Pepcid AC chewable on a daily basis now,

I also have this feeling. It started in my chest and went into my shoulder blades. I went to the doctor and they said there wasn't anything wrong with my heart (thank god!) but it could be gallbladder issues or just eating too quickly. Since my appt I have made a point to eat even slower than o already was and i haven't had the pain since.

It sounds like gas, I get that same feeling daily in the morning and sometimes at night as well. Walking and deep breathing help me. I feel like its gas so I take gas x strips

@joseph737, it seems you were right. My doctor recommended exercises with a bottle and a straw (similar to what you described).

Anyway, the feeling is gone so I guess I freaked out a little bit, but it was still worth going to the doctor's office, as he said I obviously lost some weight. B)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
