Hello everyone ....

Quick question . So it has been 2 weeks and one day since I have had my RNY surgery and so far I have only lost 17 pounds . I feel like I should be loosing more . I have read a couple of post and some seem to have lost over twenty pounds in the same time frame. I guess my question is if I am on target with weight loss. Also I am not loosing weight everyday . I know there are stalls but one day I loose a pound and then go two days with no weight loss and then I will lose another pound . Anyone go through this ???

I had the RNY two weeks and two days ago, and I've only lost about ten pounds. Some people lose more, some lose less. I wouldn't worry if I were you. It's a little frustrating that I seem to be moving at such a slow pace in terms of losing, but every body is different. You're doing just fine! :)

Thanks . It is frustrating because I figured since I have cut all the bad stuff the weight should just be dropping . I really hope this was worth it . We are around the same time frame . Are u in purée stage ? When do u start introducing foods ??

After surgery and during the hospital stage, many people gain weight because they fill your body with fluids. Therefore when you finally arrive home, you will need to lose that weight first before you see any weight loss. Also during the first few weeks after surgery, your body is in a heal mode. It is common for individuals to not lose consistently during this early period. So just relax and let the magic happen.

@@newbie_2025 yes, I am in the pureed stage for another 4 weeks or so. I'm supposed to be getting 3 pureed meals a day, 1/2 cup each, and 2 Protein Shakes, but I'm currently only getting one meal, sometimes 2 if I'm lucky. I'm just not hungry. So I'm focusing on getting all my Protein and Water for the time being. ????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
