BeeGirl 8 Posted September 2, 2015 I'm nervous and excited to finally have my procedure this Friday! I start my liquid diet tomorrow and don't have a lot on hand for post-surgery. I haven't been able to identify products online that I'll enjoy, so I welcome your suggestions. I just don't want to find myself in a weakened state with not all the right things in hand. Please share. ????
Sharon1964 2,530 Posted September 2, 2015 Since there are so many different eating plans, we'll need to know what your surgeon's plan is to really help you. My surgeon's plan is one week clear fluids, one week full fluids, two weeks puree, etc.
BeeGirl 8 Posted September 2, 2015 Sorry! That makes sense! 3 weeks high Protein liquid diet, followed by 3 weeks puréed. I'm mostly concerned with the first three weeks.
BeeGirl 8 Posted September 2, 2015 I think my first week will be clear fluids as well. ????
smileygal 43 Posted September 2, 2015 Hi Bee girl. For clear fluids I had a lovely clear chicken broth that was yum and lots of Protein as well as sugar free Gatorade. You should also be allowed jelly but I didn't want to risk the solidness of it. Free fluids much easier - you can have Protein Shakes, smoothies with Protein Powder and drinking yogurt. I also managed a yogurt ice cream very slowly. When I started puree, runny porridge was yum, then I basically chucked whatever meat and veggie casserole the family was having into the blender. Just a few teaspoons was enough in the early days. The best news is you don't feel hungry and do feel full very quickly. Good luck !!
IncredibleShrinkingMan 437 Posted September 2, 2015 My favorite clear liquid Protein Drinks are Isopure green tea and black tea. 40 g of Protein per 20 fl oz bottle...no carbs or fat. Very filling, and even 4 weeks out, I feel like sometimes I can't even eat pureed foods very well, and so I resort to them (not ideal, but at least you stay on track with your protein). Trader Joe's chicken broth is good if you are into that stuff. I assume the surgeon drew the line somewhere as to when you can move from Clear Liquids to full liquids? dkrause 23 Posted September 2, 2015 Unjury makes a great chicken soup..order some Wonton Soup and toss the wonton. Miso soup broth also ..they are ways to mix it up...I also found a pumpkin creme soup mix..it was yummy for when you move to full liquids.
