insubordination 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Yeah, it's written in a silly way [the doctor frowned] and the weights are all wrong but what's clear is that you took control of your health and took your life back. That and the fact you look utterly gorgeous and have an awesome family. I also found it heartening to know that you started by walking 40 minutes a day. That's all I can manage right now, so I'll start with that.
insubordination 0 Posted August 17, 2007 Oh and Susannah, that's a damn good bra. Are you really only half way to your goal?
Chickie 15 Posted August 17, 2007 I totally panicked when I read the article after it came out. Half of what's in it, she dammed well made up herself! And I started running well before I hit 70kg. I actually really regret it. The funny thing is, she contacted my doctor asking to talk to me, and I was silly enough to say yes. But at least its better than another one I read a few weeks earlier, where they said they could only eat a couple of mouthfuls of food. I actually had an anxiety attack over the mistakes. I feel like I was misrepresented. Like I didn't work till I got down to 70kg. That and she mentioned lean meat. Exactly where in the vegetarian diet does meat fit in? I remember correcting that too. Ahh well. In a weeks time, everyone will have forgotten. I do have to ask, what did the doctor frown about?
Chickie 15 Posted August 17, 2007 Oh, and for the record, if I had NOT been able to have my TT, I would have still been happy with my body. I wasn't at all unhappy really. I was just uncomfortable. I guess the truth isn't as sensational. I think I am almost pissed off the more I think about it. I work very hard in my day to day dealings with people to correct misinformation about banding, and now, I am the FACE of some of that bullshit. Deep breath. Get over it woman. Just build a bridge. And get over it.
insubordination 0 Posted August 17, 2007 I was just chuckling at the parts (which had nothing to do with you but the 'journalist') which said things like, "You have PCoS," the GP frowned and "You look amazing," he soothed. They really shouldn't quote people when they didn't actually say it. I guess they interview you and turn it into a narrative. Seriously, don't worry about it too much. The photos speak for themselves. You could always write a book instead.

She Smiles 2 Posted August 19, 2007 Hi all, just thought I'd check in Hope you're all doing well and feeling fantastic! Susannah you are looking fabulous, you look so confident and hot in those photos! You must be fighting the men off with a stick! Chickie, don't worry about the errors in the magazine - you did a good thing putting your success story out there, hopefully it inspires some people to follow your lead. You've done so well. As for me, I FINALLY broke my plateu of 80kgs and am now down to 77 - woo! I'm doing boot camp twice a week and RPM classes twice a week and running 5 kms on another day. I had to get my butt back into exercise gear to shift the weight again - but at last its going (slowly!)! I want to be down to 70 by Xmas....thats the plan! CONGRATULATIONS on breaking 80kg!! Thank you. After the phone call I have been getting from strangers (half a dozen so far, and a few missed calls on my mobile from numbers I don't recognise, my name and suburb are on the article, and apparently my name is in the white pages, despite it being an unlisted number) I realise that despite the errors, people were inspired by my story. So it was worth it. Hi Girls, Thanks for the kind words re the pics. It was a bit of fun and fantasy, and I felt very beautiful having them taken. Jachut 487 Posted August 19, 2007 Race you to Christmas Meredith! My goal exactly, 70kg by Christmas. I'm down to 75, suddenly had another bit of weight loss. I think at five foot 10, 70 will be fantastic! Gorgeous Susannah! Lol Chickie, journalists! Its still an inspiring article. But you make me glad that I changed my mind about participating in the marathon team event in the Melb. Marathon last year. Today Tonight was covering it, I could just imagine the shite they'd come out with and decided I'd rather go it alone. I didnt want old work colleagues and obscure relatives hearing I'd once weighed 300kg or that I'd been a size 56.
tarajane 0 Posted August 19, 2007 OH my gosh Susannah you look absolutely incredible. you must be just so proud of what you have achieved. Congrats
She Smiles 2 Posted August 20, 2007 You're on Jacqui! Although you're a good 6 inches taller than me so you are going to be teeny tiny at 70kgs!! Ideally I want to get down to 65 but I know thats going to get harder to lose weight as I get to the pointy end.
