I have not lost a single pound!

Recommended Posts

Im getting a little worried I had my sleeve done wed August 26. I have not lost any weight. I see that people are losing 5-15 the first week. Nothing for me. I'm following my doctors dietary instructions to a tee. Now I am still quite bloated. I did have my lap band removed 2 months ago because of complications. So I was thinking maybe mines slower because my body is use to it. Just wanted to get some feed back. Thanks

In the hospital your iv is running fluids in you. You are probably just retaining the fluids.

You are still in the VERY beginning.. You still have to deal with ALL of the initial shock of a MAJOR surgery.

Two words:

Be patient!!

The weight loss WILL come!

It took me about a week after surgery to start seeing results. I was retaining all the Fluid the hospital put in my. That's since gone and I'm happy with what I'm seeing on the scale. Be patient, you'll see results soon too :-)

It's a major surgery that causes you to retain Fluid, and it's common to gain. I gained the 10 pounds I lost with a 2 week liquid diet while in the hospital. It started coming off after a week or 2, and I ended up losing around 30 pounds the first month, but that was in the last part of the month. Try not to worry, it's normal

You just had surgery and are still full of IV fluids. It's hard to tell how many pounds of saline they pump into us. It will come off. Your stomach is also very swollen. You'll be surprised the day you look down and think hmm...I thought these incisions were up higher. Lol.

Next challenge.....I had surgery August 24. After that initial hospital weight gain I started seeing 2-4 pounds fall off every day. THEN I started on full liquids. The weight is slower to come off. Like 1 pound every other day or so. That can mess with your head just a little.

It's hard at the beginning but if you stick to the plan it WILL come off.

scales can be the worst of times and the best of times ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
