Hi everyone, I thought I would share a funny conversation that went on in my living room last night.

I was sitting on the chaise, my husband was laying on the sofa and my 17 year old daughter was folding laundry standing at the end of the chaise.

My husband looks over at me and asked, "Have you been on the scale yet (surgery was 8/27/15)?"

I replied with, "No, I wanted to wait until I was sure all of the surgery swelling and Water retention were gone first. Why?"

He said, "Because it looks like you are starting to melt."

I looked at my daughter and she said "He is right Mom, you are melting."

I had to laugh. It was too cute. The scale still hadn't gone back to the weight I was at surgery and I do not think I look like I have lost that much weight but apparently I look like I am losing weight even to those who see me all the time.

It is definitely a moment I won't forget.

Hope you enjoy.

My fiance and I both has WLS back in February and we both experience melting. We've joked around about it since it started happening but as more weight melted off the more we melted when we sit or lie down. Our running joke is that we become a couple of pancakes when we lay down. Bittersweet feeling :) Congradulations!! <3

My experience was/is like that. I didn't lose any actual weight for 6 weeks but everything was rearranging. That's how my DH put it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
