Lisamm200 1 Posted September 1, 2015 Hi ladies! This is my first post, I usually just enjoy reading and looking through the questions and post from all of you as they are always insightful and encouraging. I am 6 months post sleeve (sleeved in March 2015) and I am down 90 pounds. I decided to have the surgery when I was diagnosed with PCOS and infertility and was hoping surgery and weight loss would help me to become pregnant. After years of not needing to worrying about birth control I was obviously not as careful as I should have been and found out yesterday I am 4 weeks pregnant. I am scared of being pregnant only 6 months post op and am wondering if anyone has any advise or similar stories. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am so nervous and scared. Thank you all! 1 ready4change88 reacted to this
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted September 1, 2015 Well, I am in my grandma years, but one thing I do know is that your little nugget will definitely benefit from your outstanding high Protein nutrition. So, already you have a head start. Even you you gain some pregnancy weight, you will still be ahead of the game from this time last year. There are several post-op mommies on the forum who I am sure will share their PCOS and post-op stories. I wish you the best of all possible outcomes. Hugs from Chicago. 1 ready4change88 reacted to this

Djmohr 6,965 Posted September 1, 2015 Congratulations! Although you may be a little scared I would bet that you are also ecstatic! Get yourself to your bariatrician for advice, I am sure this happens a lot.
Mountaingal 322 Posted September 1, 2015 Congratulations. I am sure your NUT and/or OBGYN can help you with any dietary changes you will need to offer your baby the best prenatally. I am sure with good Vitamins, all the Protein you are taking in all will be fine. May be earlier than you expected but this is what you were hoping for. PinkPolkadot619 337 Posted September 1, 2015 I have a friend who got pregnant just a few months post op after RNY. She lost 120 lbs while pregnant and still had a healthy baby. She did have the NUT and OB helping her along the way and was closely monitored.
kimby1029 119 Posted September 1, 2015 First - Congratulations! Second - You should be eating normal food now and if you are getting in your Protein and Vitamins and Water you have an excellent chance of a healthy pregnancy and healthy delivery. You will want to speak to your OB and Bariatrician regarding nutrition and your current level of exercise. As others have said, this does happen fairly often. Fortunately you should be well healed internally from the surgery and having lost what you have will help with the delivery. 1 ready4change88 reacted to this
meps413 46 Posted September 11, 2015 I got pregnant roughly 3 months after getting sleeved. I had zero complications. I lost about 5-10 pounds until the third trimester, when I gained about 5 lbs, so I stayed under my pre-pregnancy weight. Three weeks ago, I gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. And I was back to my lowest weight within a week or so after delivery. 1 AriVSG reacted to this
lanfear67 3 Posted January 14, 2016 I'm also pregnant after having a sleeve. I'm 8 months out from surgery and 5 weeks pregnant. I'm switching to a prenatal Vitamin instead of the normal Multivitamin.< /p> 3 danybx, ready4change88 and Topher_B reacted to this

I know there are prenatal bariatric Vitamins (at least I have seen them on the Bariatric Advantage website)
Lillymunster 49 Posted February 3, 2018 I just met with my surgeon for my preop consult. I asked about pregnancy after surgery and he said to take a prenatal on top of my Bariatric multi. that way you still get all you need and the baby still gets what he/she needs. To quote him “the bariatric multi is for you, the prenatal is for the baby”
