so i m now in day two of liver shrinkage. I'm also wondering how much the rest of me will shrink too. I honestly thought i felt my soul tighten up a bit with the first sip of Protein shake.

So here i am anyway. i am on the west coast of Ireland and my surgery date while not necessarily September is on the 1st of October. 5 Days after my 33rd birthday.

I am excited right now as it is getting close to mid morning snack time and there is a nectarine on my desk that i'm shortly gonna eat like it's a gift from the fruit goddesses themselves suffice to say it won't be pretty.

In other exciting news i managed yesterday fairly easily and I've found that thinking about Protein shakes seriously reduces my hunger (go fig). I'm using Solgar "whey to Go" (i hate puns) is this the bariatric gold standard? The only advice i have is keep drinking that Water folks. Literally felt a headache rinse away earlier.

Anyway i'm rambling. Hope you've enjoyed my first post. I'd love to hear from anybody gearing up for surgery in this sort of time frame. I could def do with a buddy or two.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Des x

@@Desmond Longbottom I'm on day 4 of liver shrinkage and can totally relate. I'm allowed 1 shake & 2 clean meals a day. Next Monday, I start my 3 shakes a day & clear liquids. (Thats when the sh*t gets real) No solid food! I'm worried! Scheduled for 9/21

Day three of liver shrinking and can actually say I'm not really hungry. I could eat a lot right now but I think that's because I know I haven't eaten. I am now so dispondant about food.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
