Hello Desmond. I had no hunger after surgery for longest time either. I don't really feel hunger at all anymore. ..it's a different feeling.

I do remember it seemed I was always sipping Water and drinking Protein in the first few weeks post op. It is like a full time job at first. It's not like that anymore.

Glad to hear from you!

Scream if you hate Protein shakes! On week 11 of the putrid illegitimate feckers now. I swear if I ever meet the CEO of solgar I'm going to tear him or her a fresh one!

Before surgery, I purchased 4 giant containers of powdered shake mix in different flavors. They went down ok prior to surgery and for the first couple weeks after. Now, they taste wayyyy too sweet and I just choke them down to get the protein in on the days I need it. I still have 2 containers left.... Cappuccino and orange cream....blehhh.

Lol! I bought lots of tubs of Protein powders too. I do love the pre made Premier Protein ones. But the powder ones have become very hard to get down!????

GENEPRO makes a crystallized Protein whey that is odorless and tasteless. Mixed with hot or cold. It was very sick of sweet too. Now I can add it to blended Soup I'm a happy girl. Btw. I had used progresso Soups for years and knew they were high in sodium. A whole can was about 1500g. I got some regular old Campbell's cream of chicken. Didn't thin it out just heated it up. The can had 4400g of sodium. I was flabbergasted.

Well all was going well until today. Developed a chest infection over the weekend (bronchitis if you are on the other side of the pond) and truly "ain't nobody got time for that". The annoying part is my clarithromyacin keeps getting returned to sender. Been given a different antibiotic now so hopefully all will be well.

Mucus-riddenly yours

Des x

Hope every body else is doing well.

Oh Dear, Des!

I'm so sorry to hear you got sick. Does your Dr think it's related to your surgery or just a arbitrary bout? Drink lots of fluids ( easier said than done, right?) and don't take your antibiotic on an empty stomach. Get Well Soon!

I have asthma so it's sort of par for the winter course. I was also santa clause at the weekend. The room was hot stuffy and infested with children. Might as well have been a petri dish.

Good that it's a normal consequence of life and not a complication. Bet you are one jolly Santa!! You are going to have to start padding up to keep up Santa's appearance in the future.

Hey Des

Congrats on the egg! I have 9 more days of liquids only. Sounds like you are feeling better.

Are you going to post us a pic of you in your Santa gear?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
