I am sure I'm experiencing dumping syndrome.

Symptoms are sweating, feels like a ball in my stomach. mild-moderate dizziness, lump in my throat.

Can I force myself to throw up to feel better?

I feel wretched!

TIA

Sounds like classic dumping symptoms. Did you eat something just before this happened that might have caused it? Sorry you are feeling so bad, hope you feel better soon.

Well hell yeah I did. lol I just had a little Parmesan crusted chicken, like only 1/4 cup, if that. I was thinking maybe the Mayonnaise and Parmesan base and the carbs of the Italian bread crumbs were too much for me.

OMG it's awful!

CAN I FORCE MYSELF TO THROW UP TO FEEL BETTER?!

Doesn't sound like anything sugary was the culprit.

Wow.

I was just told by my new surgeon today that I'd be on liquids for a month after the surgery.

How soon before you were cleared for those types of solid foods ?

Very sorry. Hope you are getting some relief.

Not sure I'd consider it dumping, but I've not experienced dumping so I don't know.

I do know my first experience having Mayonnaise wasn't pretty. I left it alone for a few weeks and now can manage it ok.

If I eat something overly fatty, I get 'lower' digestive issues, throwing up hasn't been any issue.

CAN I FORCE MYSELF TO THROW UP TO FEEL BETTER?!

Sometimes when I have dumping syndrome, I lean over the sink or stool and try and throw up. If I do throw up, I feel better afterwards. Also it is better when you have dumping syndrome to be in a vertical position rather than in a horizontal position. By that I mean that if you try and lay down, you will generally only feel worse. You may have to sit up and watch TV for a couple hours before the pain settles down.

If you are only a month out it is waaay to early to be eating chicken, it is one of the hardest foods to digest. You should be having soft fish and Beans for Protein, cottage cheese, yogurt.

Yeah I bet that chicken got stuck is what happened.

Are you supposed to be eating chicken this early? I'd look at all your information or call your NUT, to make sure that's approved food this early.

I was still on full liquids a month out and just transitioning to soft foods.

I was allowed chicken but was told to thoroughly chew it to mush. I have the sleeve and I have never experienced dumping. I have over ate twice and the knot in the throat and the sweating. The urge to want to throw up that last bite or two was overwhelming but I didn't want to do that either. I sipped Water slowly and waited for it to pass - took about an hour. Not something I want to experience again.

I am four months out and still can not really tolerate meats. It isn't dumping syndrome because that has to do with high sugar intake. Things get stuck and also our stomachs may not be processing the previous meal very efficiently. So we assume our stomachs are empty when in fact there still might be residual food in there. I feel like a cat with a furball sometimes.

The best Proteins at this point are ones that are ground up or made into meatball/sausage like consistency. Lean turkey meatballs have gone down fine, but I haven't yet had the gall to try a grilled chicken cutlet or the like. I really think I can wait until Thanksgiving to try real bird. I accidentally swallowed some raw ahi tuna without chewing on Friday and I drove to two different ER's (didn't go in) before the scare subsided. Say the alphabet chewing and then swallow. I've never had anything get stuck following this rule.

I was one week post-op yesterday. Tomorrow I get my drain out. I ignorantly advanced my diet too soon on my own as I'm supposed to be on Clear Liquids with Protein, either powder added to clear liquids or Isopure Protein Drinks. Problem is, I can't tolerate the protein mentally. I gag on it. The Isopure tastes like Sno Cone topping like icky sweet Syrup. Ack!

Now I'm back to what I would call a full liquid/soft food diet. I have to get protein. My body craves it.

Because I'm still opening up pill capsules, I have one that I have to wait 30 minutes to "eat" so I take that as soon as I wake up in the morning. Then, 30 minutes later, I put the Prilosec powder from the capsule in unsweetened applesauce and mix it in 1/2 of the container that I've spooned out into a small cup. It's so dang bitter that this is the only way I've found to be able to tolerate it.

If I'm "hungry", which is my term for my body craving protein, I'll have part of a soft egg but I can't eat all of it, just about 1/2. Later in the day I'll have some Idahoan instant mashed potatoes made thin with a scoop of the Protein Powder.< /p>

If I follow this, I don't dump.

Wow, you've skipped to soft foods one week out. Just be aware that moving too fast to solid foods can harm your pouch;' it's still in the early stages of healing. You've really gotta listen to your doctor and NUT. Call your NUT and see if there is anything different you can do. Isopure has drinks that are not shakes in lots of different flavors that you might try. I've also heard a lot of people talk about Unjury.< /p>

Be careful, and be safe. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
