I was approved! I'm getting married in December tho...thoughts?

Recommended Posts

Was finally approved for a revision from band to bypass!!! I'm excited. EXCEPT...I'm getting married in December and I already have my dress (which is in the middle of being altered), I won't be able to eat (I probably won't want to anyway from the stress) and I'm afraid that I might be sick if I get it beforehand. The earliest is at the end of September, wedding date is December 5. Also, if I weight too long then I might lose my approval.

My questions is, how long did it take after surgery for you to feel "normal" and not sick?

Thoughts? (is this the right forum to post on?)

Thank you!!

I was able to walk around a large flea market when I was a month out, if that helps any. That's a hard decision. You "should" feel pretty well by then, but you never know....and you don't want to lose your appeal either. Can you find out how long the approval is good for? I would think if you schedule it now for a date soon after the wedding, they would be satisfied with that.

Yes I will look into it. But if its a matter of getting the surgery before my wedding or losing the appeal...well...I've got to go for the surgery!

I think I'm concerned also for the emotional component of the surgery as well.

Congratulations! You will likely lose more weight before wedding day, so keep that seamstress on hand so she can alter your dress last minute ;)

Thank you!

Was it hard to adjust after the surgery? Was it very emotional - having the surgery?

I haven't had revision yet, but have had previous WLS before. I was only off work for 3 weeks and was walking around. You should be fine before wedding day as long as you are getting fluids, Protein, and Vitamins in. Just be a good girl haha!!! ;)

As soon as I walked through the door my finance said "Have it done as soon as possible! Don't wait!"

So that is what I will do. I will have it in September.

Wow, i can't believe its happening!

What a great fiancé! I'm about 3 weeks post op and mostly tired still but I feel better if that makes any sense. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
