3 weeks after surgery I had to go have a seroma opened up and drained where they removed my port. It has been a week and so far it doesn't look as if it's healing at all. I have to remove old gauze and repack it daily so that it can heal from the inside out. Has anyone ever had to deal with one of these, and if so, how long did it take to finally heal?

I was just at my surgeons office on Friday about that possibility. A seroma is a collection of Fluid that collects underneath the skin in the port area because basically it leaves an empty space. He said that my incision looked normal even though it was pink and warm. He told me that if it starts to drain clear fluid that to cover it with gauze. If the drainage was purulent, then to call right away but in the mean time to watch it. Wounds like that have to heal from the inside. Eat lots of Protein so it will heal faster. Keep clean. Healing just depends on so many things. If you are immunocompromised , it may take a bit longer. Example Diabetes will cause slower wound healing, also medications etc... Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will heal quick.for you!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
