Lilly73 0 Posted July 24, 2007 You definately want to spend the night....I don't know how people go home after that!! I needed to stay due to my sleep apnea but the hospital I had it done at sends them home....it is strictly a day surgery...can't imagine! I had a lot of post op nausea and gas pain...very glad I stayed.
Troy45 0 Posted July 25, 2007 Part of it will depend on how you react to general anesthesia. I hadn't been under before and found that my (previously undiagnosed) sleep apnea affected my O2 saturation when coming out of anesthesia. I felt good but they wanted to keep me on O2 and monitor me overnight. I'm glad that I stayed just cause it's easier having the hospital bed that first night and they gave me meds via IV that I wouldn't have gotten at home. I think it sped my recovery. Was back at work in 3 days.
egh 0 Posted July 26, 2007 I stayed overnight and it was the best thing I could have done! My bed at home, much as I love it, doesn't recline in the way that hospital beds do, and I would have been very dehydrated without the IV fluids. I was lucky - I had a private room, bathroom, etc, that was very spacious in a quiet, private hospital - so perhaps my experience was not normal? Best of luck with your surgery!
