RetroGirl 210 Posted August 31, 2015 To all of you who love cooking or simply have to cook for the family – how is it after VSG? I was sleeved 10 days ago and I’m on full liquids, so I can’t eat pretty much anything normal people would consider a meal. But I always loved cooking for friends, family and obviously for myself, which is partly what got me here. Today I spent the day at my parents’ house and decided to make some Greek moussaka for them, and I must say, I really enjoyed cooking it and did not feel any sort of temptation to try! One thing I did before getting the sleeve was cooked every single recipe I absolutely love and wrote down exact how many tbsp/tsp of each herb and spice I used. That way I don’t even need to try it to know it’s delicious How do you cope with cooking meals you shouldn’t eat yourself now after the sleeve? I’m thinking, maybe it’s going to get harder once I’m on solid food again…
NikkiDoc 312 Posted August 31, 2015 I am 7 months out. I like to cook. (clean-up not so much). I cook things for my husband all the time I don't eat. Mostly I will make carbs as side dishes for him. I make extra vegetables that he won't eat since he is picky. We had his niece's graduation at our house in mid July. I cooked all kinds of stuff not on my diet. Yes, I did have a bite of cake, yes I had 2 bites of a really cool flatbread I made. I don't mind cooking things I can't eat. Will I try something that isn't on my eating plan? Yes. I will have a bite or two. This way I don't feel totally deprived. I also want to taste food I made to decide if I want to make it again and if I need to make changes to spices or other ingredients. TXTinana 269 Posted September 3, 2015 I am 17 days out and my husband asked me yesterday to give him a date when he can expect me to start cooking again haha. Poor thing, he's tired of frozen dinners and sandwiches. I told him if he would take it upon himself to cook it wouldn't be a problem. I told him I would start cooking again next week.
